Our commitment
Adapted Sports India (ASI Foundation) is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We strive to follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and related W3C guidance to ensure our content is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users. (W3C)
Conformance status
We aim to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Based on our most recent internal checks and manual testing, parts of the site currently meet many Level A and Level AA success criteria; others are still under remediation. A formal third-party evaluation (see “Evaluation & testing” below) will be completed and published as an Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) when finished. (W3C)
What we have implemented (high level)
The following accessibility features are implemented on this site (these are also described in our existing Accessibility Statement):
- Descriptive alternative text for images. (–)
- Keyboard navigation support (site can be navigated without a mouse). (–)
- Clear and consistent semantic headings and page structure to aid screen reader navigation. (–)
- Sufficient color contrast between foreground text and background elements, and text can be resized without loss of content or functionality. (–)
- Accessible forms (labels, instructions and focus order) and responsive layout for different devices and screen sizes. (–)
- Video accessibility: captions or transcripts provided where video content exists or is published. (If you find a video without captions, please report it—see Feedback below.) (–)
Known limitations and planned fixes
We continuously work to improve accessibility. During our review we identified (or may identify during ongoing testing) areas that require improvement, for example:
- Some third-party embeds, widgets, or older content may not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA yet. We are auditing those assets and will replace or remediate them where required.
- Interactive widgets or custom controls may need WAI-ARIA annotations and additional keyboard handling — we prioritize these updates and will apply WAI-ARIA best practices during remediation. (W3C)
We publish an updated remediation schedule alongside our conformance report.
How we test and evaluate accessibility
Our evaluation approach includes a combination of:
- Automated testing with reputable tools to catch common issues.
- Manual testing by trained testers (keyboard-only navigation, focus order checks, color contrast checks, etc.).
- Assistive technology testing using screen readers (e.g., NVDA and VoiceOver) and other assistive technologies to verify real-world behavior.
- Third-party conformance evaluation using the W3C’s Website Accessibility Conformance Evaluation Methodology (WCAG-EM) and producing an Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR / VPAT) that documents scope, methods, and results. We will publish the ACR when the formal evaluation is complete. (W3C, W3C GitHub)
Technical standards & guidance we follow
- WCAG 2.2 (W3C Recommendation) — our target standard for conformance. (W3C)
- WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices for interactive/custom widgets. (W3C)
- WCAG-EM guidance for formal conformance evaluation and reporting. (W3C)
Reporting accessibility problems (contact & feedback)
If you experience any accessibility barriers on this website, please contact us so we can investigate and fix the issue:
Email: adaptedsportsindia@gmail.com
Alternate contact: padmini[at]adaptedsportsindia[dot]com
When reporting, please include:
- The web address (URL) of the page with the issue,
- A description of the problem and steps to reproduce it (if possible),
- The browser and assistive technology you are using (if any), and
- Your contact details if you’d like a response.
We will acknowledge receipt within 5 business days and provide an estimated timeline for remediation. If you prefer a different contact method, tell us in your message and we will try to accommodate you.
If we cannot resolve your issue
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate to a regulator or independent advocacy group in your jurisdiction. For users in India, you may contact the appropriate rights or disability-advocacy organization. (We will include an escalation contact list in our published ACR once the formal evaluation is complete.)
Ongoing improvements & governance
- Accessibility is part of our content and product lifecycle; new content and features go through an accessibility checklist before publication.
- We maintain an internal accessibility issue tracker and remediation schedule and update this statement and the published ACR after significant changes or annually.
- We train staff and content authors on accessible content authoring and testing practices.
